Svetlana JSC (the former Leningrad Association of electronic instrument making “Svetlana”) is the founder and one of the leaders of electronic industry in Russia.

Beginning of Svetlana JSC activity dates back to the 1889.

Svetlana experienced several stages of its development from the date of foundation till the Great Patriotic War. That period influenced the scientific and technological progress and industrial development of Russia.

The first bulb with a metal filament was produced in 1914.The output of this production became large-scale in 1920. In 1929 Svetlana organized batch production of radio tubes and became the center of electronics in USSR. The Sectoral Vacuum Laboratory was established on Svetlana’s premises in 1933.It became the major scientific research centre for Russian electronics. In 1937 Svetlana got the Grand-Prix for its power grid tubes at the international exhibition of art and technology in Paris. That was the start of the radio broadcasting development.
In 1952 the first double focus X-ray tube was developed in USSR.
In 1973 Leningrad Designed and Technology Bureau became a part of the company. Svetlana started manufacturing highly integrated chips based on MIS devices.
In 1976 for the first time in USSR Svetlana developed the single-board computer Electronica C5-11 to manage technological process.
In 1992 Svetlana was transformed into a public company.
In 1997 Svetlana joined the public company ROSEL (Rossiyskaya Electronica), the largest Russian electronics holding company.

Svetlana JSC was founded in 2002.

Nowadays Svetlana JSC involves parent company and subsidiaries, which specialize in output of specific production lines. Every subsidiary has its own Development Laboratory with manufacture. The scientific and production activity is carried out by full circle: ”research – development –production – realization of products”.

The most strong positions Svetlana has in sphere of development and production of power electrovacuum devices, klystrons and x-ray tubes.

Svetlana-X-Ray is the only enterprise in CIS that designs and produces x-ray tubes of all classes and types. X-ray tubes application includes industrial installation and devices for physics investigations, medical apparatus and devices for luggage control.

Svetlana-microelectronics is one of the major Russian design centers for sophisticated microprocessors with original architecture and standard instruction sets (similar in terms of their functions to generally known microprocessors) and information and control systems.

Svetlana – Electrondevice is the only enterprise that develops and produces protective microwave devices and discrete phase shifters, and also develops and produces vacuum and semiconductor microwave devices mainly for radar engineering.

Svetlana-SED-SPb is a leading enterprise of Russia in field of development and production of power transmitting, modulator, regulator and receiving tubes.

Radiolocation, radio communication, broadcasting, television, information and control systems, inspection systems, medicine, household appliances are the spheres of Svetlana’s production application .Svetlana JSC exports more then 20% of its production.

For the substantial contribution to consolidation of defensive capacity and development of various fields of national economy Svetlana was conferred two Orders of Lenin and two Orders of Red Banner.
